Nunavut’s Representative for Children and Youth will honour National Child Day this year by participating in the Legislative Assembly’s Biennial Youth Parliament. National Child Day is marked every year on November 20 to recognize the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Canada signing the international treaty.

During the week of February 6, 2017, one of our Child and Youth Advocacy Specialists, Christa Kunuk visited the community of Kimmirut, where she had the chance to connect with students from Kindergarten to grade 12 to raise awareness of their rights. This community visit was also a great opportunity to meet with a wide array of GN service providers including staff from the Department of Family Services, the Kimmirut Health Center as well as the Hamlet.
